----Author's Bio----

Jinx (Julian) Olson was born on July 18th, 1940 in the small farming town of Swifton, located in the northeastern part of Arkansas (west of Jonesboro). He was raised in Taylor Township near Detroit Michigan, but spent many of his long and lazy summer vacations on his grandfather Otto Julian's farm. His mother's maiden name was Thompson.

At seventeen he joined the Navy and went to California. After four years in the Navy, on an aircraft carrier and in San Diego, he spent the next forty years living, working and raising a family of two girls in Northern California, San Francisco Bay Area and Silicon Valley. After getting his MBA degree and while working on his Doctorate in Business Administration, he spent a long and successful career in the computer and high-tech industry in sales, marketing, public relations and advertising. After his sad divorce of thirty-six years, he retired and moved back to his Southern roots in Swifton. In addition to a new career in writing books, he has joined the Gideons International to help pass out Bibles in hotel, motel and hospital rooms across America and the main stream of life.

Jinx’s book "Hunter Jones Joins the Civil War (Missouri)" was the first in his trilogy aimed at young readers in the 5th and 6th grades, students who are 10, 11, 12, 13 and older. “My hope is with an interesting and compelling page-turning-story the reader will not only walk away with a sense of history but get excited about wanting to learn more about an event that shaped the fabric of America. The character and story are fictional but the historical facts are true and accurate in every detail.”

The second book in the trilogy was Hunter Jones Joins the Civil War (Indian Territory). It explains how the Indians got to what is now know as Okalahoma and why some eagerly fought for the South while others just as eagerly fought for the North. It explores the Civil War events that happened west of the Indian Territory, including among other events - the Texan’s mission to sneak up through the New Mexico Territory and capture the silver mines in Colorado to help pay for the Confederate war effort.

The third book in the trilogy is Hunter Jones Joins the Civil War (Arkansas). This interesting and compelling page-turning-story covers the Civil War events that happened in Arkansas: Pea Ridge, Prairie Grove, Poison Springs, Marks’ Mill, Jenkin’s Ferry, the Battle at Helena, the Battle at Ditch Bayou and many others.

“Yes, my target audience is young readers, the next generation of Civil War historians, the new “keepers of the flame” but frankly anyone who loves to read and learn about the Civil War period will enjoy the Hunter Jones Joins the Civil War series.”

Soul Mate Left Behind

Jinx says this about his Soul Mate Left Behind book, "If I can survive a sad divorce after 36 years, anyone can. I thought my wife and I were like two parallel yellow lines running merrily off down the highway of life together. But one morning I woke up and found I was the only line left painted in the middle of the road. Somewhere along the highway her life had found a fork and she took it. She had turned off somewhere back there and I don’t even know it. As a Soul Mate Left Behind, my advice to anyone who has loved and lost is to just keep on keeping on. Honestly, there really is light at the end of the tunnel, there really is life after death and there really is a sweet sunrise and a calm port after the roughest of storms. You just have to remember to keep treading water. It's okay to cry about it, you should. Feel sad about it, it's natural. Write about it, if it helps. But what ever you do about it - just keep treading water. Here's a happy thought to take with you: Remember - they found floating survivors after the sinking of the Titanic - so just keep on keeping on. Like one lady in my self-help class said, "I’m praying to God but paddling for the shore." Signed Jinx Olson
